The FCIRCC exists to focus research efforts on those critical issues that have the most dramatic impact on the entire citrus industry. The council is the one body that represents all segments of the industry and is able to concentrate resources on critical concerns. The council is able to function in an independent environment and speak in one voice.
The council does not administer funds, but works hard to secure dollars for the various research agencies. A close interaction exists between the council and lobbying efforts, research agencies, funding sources, industry associations and regulatory infrastructure.
FCIRCC works hard to bridge any existing gaps and meet identified needs in research this is the primary reason for the council.
